We are in search of a new home for CJ’s Concert Grand Knabe piano! CJ’s piano tuner/technician, Bob Fritz, learned about this iconic piece of Baltimore history in 2021. For many years, CJ and Bob have been rehoming many wonderful pianos. They have put in thousands of dollars worth of time, parts, expertise and TLC to make this Knabe sing like it did 120 years ago.

We simply want this piano to go to a home large enough to contain it and willing to give it away to someone who will appreciate it as much as we do. However, it will need continual care (tuning 1-2 times per year and several more steps in fully reconditioning the soundboard) so the recipient needs to understand their long term investment in taking the instrument.
Not only is this a beautiful piano, but it is rich in Baltimore history! "Knabe’s rich history began more than 200 years ago when Wilhelm (William) Knabe was born in Kreuzburg, Germany in 1803. Knabe learned the art of cabinet and piano making through apprenticeships, dedication and hard work. After immigrating to the United States and settling in Baltimore, Maryland, Knabe began working under Henry Hartge, a well-known piano maker. In 1835, William formed his own business of buying, selling and repairing used pianos from inside his home. Knabe partnered with Henry Gaehle to form the piano company Knabe & Gaehle, the genesis of Knabe’s storied history. In the later decades of the 19th century, Knabe grew to be one of the most respected pianos and very popular among consumers and professionals alike." The piano needs to be moved by December 4th!
